Getting new computer, Question about CEN64 on Windows 8.1

Post by OldGnashburg » Thu May 01, 2014 3:34 pm

I am getting a Sager NP9377-S after I save up money from working this summer, and I am wondering if there would be any issues with CEN64 for Windows 8.1 Professional whether I would be able to run it at all, or if there would be any Graphics, Audio, or Input Issues, as I plan to get a Mayflash N64 Controller Adapter too. Is there anything I should no about emulation on Windows 8 that I should know about before getting a computer with Windows 8?

I was able to build/run CEN64 just fine on Windows 8.1, can't comment on the Mayflash, but if it works on 7 it wouldn't be farfetched to assume it'd work on 8.1 as well.

I code to standards and open, cross-platform libraries to the best of my ability, and thus virtually any quasi-modern (or new) Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux install should be compatible with CEN64.

If somebody wanted to go crazy and port to a console, phone, or whatever in the distant future, that would be fairly easy as well.

There was a thread on Emutalk that recommended the RetroPort USB N64 adapter over the Mayflash adapter.
