Is someone still alive here?

Post by Snowstorm64 » Wed Dec 21, 2016 6:19 pm

Where is MarathonMan? Where are all others? Is CEN64 already doomed? It's because of the Orange Man's takeover of this website...? :?

Just kidding, well, please give us a nudge to show that you're alive and well (and @MarathonMan, some little news on CEN64's development, why not? :P) Also, Merry Christmas! :)

I still lurk.

btw, the login throttling captcha is written wrong. It says "every other letter", but it should be "every other character".

I also come back from time to time, for seeing if there are any news.

I'm here everyday, but I don't have anything to contribute unfortunately.

Still here, checking in every now and then to see if there's anything new.
If no new updates are being made within the next month or so, I'm planning a compatibility status update (hopefully done with newer hardware) :)

Sorry, I'm still very much alive and well. I started a full-time job while trying to finish school, so needless to say... things have been pretty crazy. :)

There won't be any changes to the current release unless they come from contributors. I have only been working on the code which I've discussed in other threads around here (and even that hasn't seen a commit in awhile...)

Happy holidays to you as well,
-MM

Congratulations on the job! But that means the CEN64's development will be put on hold, sorta of....I guess it's time to get a 64drive, for the time being.

Thanks! The new core won't be ready for a considerable amount of time... definitely get a 64drive. :D

Definitely get a 64drive, it's worth the investment!
The only thing I can't run is Banjo-Tooie PAL, because of the protection built-in. The NTSC version can be made protection free with a patch.

Well, I have just bought a 64drive! Now the hard part is to wait for it to be delivered here...

It's not an issue for me, as I already own Banjo-Tooie. Nevertheless, it looks like there's a new hardware revision that can already run unpatched Banjo-Tooie and Jet Force Gemini, and that it'll support natively 64DD games.

Did you get the hw2 version, or is it not for sale yet? (I'm kind of surprised there is one coming!).

Yeah, I also own the original cart of the game.
It'll be hard to convince myself to upgrade to this, as the flashcard can be pricey, and it almost feels like a double dip.

Yes, or at least I think it's the newer hardware, because according to the website this version is already being sold instead of the old one.

Update: Just got this bad boy! I'm really happy and I definitely don't regret it. :D

What you can receive if you purchase 64drive + Ultrasave (it comes in pieces, you have to mount it):

As you can see, this is the new cover for the 64drive HW2:

It has also the multifunction button on the back!

Banjo-Tooie is unpatched and it works out of the box on 64drive HW2:

Ohh, I would really like to get a HW2, but when I look at the website all the information still refers to the old hardware... is there a new website somewhere?

It's still the same website, just not being updated yet. I have purchased a 64drive from the very same website, with old informations, and I have received the HW2 one.

I check the site from time to time. Reading the git logs. I still hope that cen64 becomes a nice and complete software-only N64 emulator. But I know that doing that is hard.

Or one could wait 20 years or so and hope that CPUs in this time can run MAMEs N64 code fast enough :D
