Re: Intel Haswell graphics can output true 240p on Windows 7

do you know if this works with sandybridge or ivybridge as well? or is it just haswell? Unfortunately I do not have access to systems running either. I did just have access to a laptop with Sandy Bridge just last week, but I didn't discover the 240p thing until last night. also, my concern is wheth...

also, my concern is whether or not a modern monitor can even recognize a signal with such low hsync, most state a minimum of ~30khz on their spec sheets

Re: Paper Mario doesn't boot

it is a shame how shitty AMD cores have gotten... here's hoping Zen will be able to actually compete, seeing as CPU performance in general has been pretty stagnant since sandybridge

Re: Will CEN64 be able to use the Oculus Rift (or similar)?

Probably the best emulator to ask for Oculus Rift support in is Dolphin. Dolphin already has a free camera mode where you can move the camera around in any gamecube game and it renders the way the scene looks from there. it's already possible to hack in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoz1UJ8Mu4w ...

Re: CEN64 rewrite

Any updates? It has been quite quiet on these forums... well... assuming most of the people on this forum are college students... we DID just have midterms last week. and are currently on break. bugger if I know what the rest are up to though. maybe Marathon is having to deal with stuff for his job...

Re: CEN64 rewrite

I half expected you to post "april fools" after saying that. then I remembered that it's March :P

ANYWAY! this sounds like an awesome change to CEN64. but are you sure you'll be able to maintain the cycle accuracy with a Dynarec core?

wondering about the disk drive

every once in a while. someone says they're going to tackle the N64's disk drive. either make a full-blown emulator (or emulator plugin) of it or a dumper or something. they generally manage to get about halfway... and then drop off the face of the internet so I'm wondering. are you planning some so...

Re: Please consider adding these to CEN64

so you ARE going to add multithreading at some point? possibly? you seem to still be pretty unsure about that Trying to. The question is: will it be beneficial or not. ah yes... the whole "will it save more than it consumes" problem... hell. you may even find that question having different answers ...

those are what I was referring to yeah. I'm not sure if they're 100% accurate to the original hardware. but from what I've read they can at least run the software natively

wondering about the Z-buffer

I'm assuming the N64 used something analogous to the modern Z-buffer. where there is a linear (or quadratic or whatever) function which applies Z-values to geometry and then the rendered pixels in order to help with clipping and culling and fog and so on correct me if I'm wrong about the above thoug...

or... you know... use actual N64 hardware... (which they do sell in China) and maybe... I dunno... replace the DAC I guess.

it's probably a memory limitation that made them disable it. even if you were to re-enable it it would probably break something

Re: Please consider adding these to CEN64

A debugger on the level of nemu's is sorely needed. This will probably start appearing in the next-generation VR4300 core that's going to have transactional time-based commits/checkpointing (and thus permit a multi-threaded CEN64 down the road), serialization/unserialization functions (for saving C...

Re: Wii Virtual console emulation accuracy vs other emulator

Project Reality, most exaggerated codename ever lol. Still wiiu games look as good as those 3D character renders I used to see in Nintendo instruction manuals which is pretty amazing when you think about it. Just took them a few more years to get there, wonder how good the games would have looked i...

Re: 90s CRT Gamma ramp option (similar to higan/bsnes)

Easiest thing to do would be let the limited resources be used to focus on reaching the original goal and then once this project is stable I guarantee someone will port this into retroarch and you can have all the gamma ramps and crt shaders you'd like. why does everyone and their uncle keep going ...

Re: 90s CRT Gamma ramp option (similar to higan/bsnes)

I dunno about the CRT filter... that could be problematic...

but the gamma would be nice yes...

actually you wouldn't even need to build the gamma modification into the emulator itself. it could be put in as a post process injector...
