UltraSave now available!

The latest hardware wonder from RetroActive has arrived! The UltraSave claims to read and write save chips from any game through the 64drive via USB, and even dump proto carts! Now, I personally don't have a use for this myself, but I still think it's an awesome tool. Too bad we can't trust anyone w...

I have tried many SM64 hacks on real hardware using a 64drive, and none of them worked so far. I'm actually surprised Star Road even boots in Cen64!

I use an older version though, so perhaps it's even more optimizable.

I probably don't have the knowledge to properly work on Hourglass, but this might be just what you're looking for. I actually had to use it because my good ol' Microsoft Sidewinder wasn't recognized by Shovel Knight, and it worked wonderfully well.

OldGnashburg, if I may, I believe you tend to see a little too far ahead. As it was mentionned multiple times already, CEN64 is still a long way from being finished: worrying about unused intructions or "what's next" is not worth it as CEN64's situation, or MarathonMan's life situation, might very w...

Re: Wii Virtual console emulation accuracy vs other emulator

If I remember and understood correctly , those emulators were not accurante in the sense that they contain many game-specific hacks. In other words, there basically is a different emulator for each game on the Virtual Console. Since emulators such as CEN64 aim for accuracy rather than just compatib...

Re: Future plans for RDP, Front-End, Audio, etcetera.

As far as I know, every feature that is not directly related to emulation accuracy is currently not on MarathonMan's mind; Filters, higher resolutions, texture pack support, netplay, savestates, and cheats may very well happen someday, but don't wait for them as it might take a long while, if they a...

Re: Theoretical Speed Requirements

I'm really sorry if you had your hopes up, but: Chip accuracy is never gonna happen for the N64; Even if it did, a CPU fast enough to run it probably won't exist in our lifetime. As for the CEN64 speed requirements, they might eventually be lower because MarathonMan has chosen to prioritize accuracy...

Re: Chip-Accuracy: I might just be complaining...

higan / bsnes is not chip accurate, and yet: it can barely run at full speed on current CPUs; there is not a single known discrepancy between it and an actual SNES. Of course, this doesn't take into account the insane amount of work this would mean. I doubt anyone would ever want to do that for a sy...

Some of these are pretty nice ideas, but honestly, creating some very, very simple GUIs is already quite the pain in the ass. What you're suggesting here is not simple at all. Also, I assume that MarathonMan wants to keep his project 100% legal (have you seen many N64 emulators requiring a the PIF f...

Interesting...! Has this approach ever been used in another emulator before? As you said, players would obviously require a good network connection, but otherwise only P1 would require a truly fast computer (unless scaling / filtering is implemented at some point in the future).

Color me excited! :D
